Even if we vote for him, how likely is it that he'll become president? I hate feeling like I have to vote for the lesser of two evils, however, voting for the candidate I believe in most seems like throwing my vote away. =(

Such a sad day---Dennis withdrew today. He will formally anounce it tomorrow. Even if he didn't stand a chance, I still wanted to get to vote for him again in our primary. I am clueless as to how to vote now! :*

<<This guy is much of of a realistic candidate than dennis kuchinich!>>

Look at the president we got now? I can't think of any other US president who is so far detached from reality than Bush..(Regan is a close second, and Nixon third).

Kucinich is perhaps too enlightened for the brain dead violent masses of the good old USofA.

Barak is a pretty talker but does not have the soul and vision that Kucinich has.
He was one of the few that was shouting out against the war before it began.. where the hell was Barak?

Barak is still talking about keeping soldiers in the Mesopotamia!

          ok i couldn't wait, i found a source myself:
          supervegan.com/blog/entry.php
and i couldn't agree more with the author of the article, that although i'm stoked to hear that he's gone vegan, i wish he'd won the presidency first. I fear that this will alienate "normal" folks who might have been considering him for president. It's one thing to offer them hope of changing the things they don't like about this country, and quite another to declare that he intends to take their hamburgers and milkshakes away. The average American is like a dog; pet them, feed them, throw a ball once in a while and they're content, but try and take that bone away and they're ready to bite.

Now the only hope is that there are enough freaks in this country motivated enough to help him get elected. The problem is, the superdelegates are like overlords in this system. Hillary knows how to work them, and now with Obama's dietary announcement, Clinton is likely to start throwing barbecues for them. I'll bet she loves a good sirloin.

in a comment posted in that blog i found this:
            blog.washingtonpost.com/the-tr...al.html
and this is very, very bad.
So bad that i suspect it has to be a set-up, because i don't want to believe that the guy i've committed my vote to is a blatant hypocrite. This is going to blow up the news, and he is going to have some explaining to do, and you know...he should have just kept his diet plans to himself and focused on the national issues. The first article was posted April 1st, and the next was April 2nd. I hope he comes up with a good explanation, like that the salami and cheese tasting was his last bite of the past.

three people so far have informed me that the original article was an April Fool's joke.
now, aside from the fact that i feel like a gullible dumb-ass, a joke like that is dangerously unfunny considering how tenuous his campaign is in the face of mainstream America. True or not, it's still bad publicity. I posted about this in my blog, but i am going to delete it because i don't want to further any bad press he may get over this.

"considering how tenuous his campaign is in the face of mainstream America."

Why is it tenuous? He is just a moderately liberal candidate, who is a great orator; it is really nothing to get that excited about

                  I agree with The Mandrill.

Moreover, I think the Presidency has proven itself ill-suited to enact the will of the people.

We need a new system for democracy.. a new revolution..less dependent on individuals to represent..individuals are too corruptable with money, power and ideologies.

I believe America needs something that does not even need representation..
more like government by referendums.. we got the technology to make this possible.

Hey The Mandrill! why no friends?

I agree with Alex. I personally have an attractive to the model that was invented during the Spanish uprising in response against the Fascist take over of the country. I was based on the system used by a number of workers unions who were fighting for workers rights and government reform, and was basically a federation of autonomous self governing unions, but who elected non permanent representatives to meet at the federalist council to organize cooperation between the unions and regional associations. It was highly democratic while still allowing a maximum of autonomy and civil freedom.

I highly doubt our current system could make that radical of a shift unless the system we already have were to break down first, perhaps in response to the decline of oil or other such event.

                      The Mandrill,

i have been far less docile than you, yet i have been kicked out of two tribes and been asked to leave a third one.. and requested not to join a few other ones.. just becuse I defended myself and called it like I saw it...yet always try not to be abrasive..which perhaps is what was so irritating--that i would not attack back with nastiness but rather sober criticism.

The high of word food fight can be exciting, but i did not want to depend on that kind of strategy for excitement.. It leaves me feeling empty at night..and I imagine it stresses other people out.. those people have better things to do with their energy than waste it on attacking me.. so I renounced such tactics.

I try to feel neutral about you but it's hard at times. I appreciate the energy you have and the thoughts in between the mud tossing, though.

                      cheers!

i think it's cute how we're all kind of becoming friends here.
What i meant when i said tenuous campaign was that just by virtue of representing change, he is already under the skin of the people who fear the unknown. I am so glad to find out that Obama is not a vegan. It sounds weird, because i wish that most people were vegan. But i feel protective of his progress and i know that announcing something so extremely left of center would be very bad for his campaign.

I liked this: "The high of word food fight"
I am very tired right now, so i read it all sorts of ways before i finally got it.
The high word of food fight
The high world of food fight
                        The world food high fight
                        ok to bed i go.

the barak gone veegan was a silly april fools joke. The guy little substance and is alot of talk. I would be shocked to hear him actually starting to make lifestyle changes and doing the walk instead of the talk.
