Let's pick a new moderator

topic posted Thu, April 24, 2008 - 7:47 PM by  Cali
Ok, maybe it's not my place to jump in here because I'm so new to this tribe, but I've started to think maybe the reason a new moderator hasn't been picked by the tribe members is because no one wants to read a 100+ long thread.
If anyone feels up to moderating the tribe, please post below. Let's say that everything that needs to be said about why a person should or shouldn't moderate has been said already (many times) in the other thread, and that the thread below will be largely for volunteers and then people voting in support.
I think maybe we should keep in mind that this tribe is supposed to be: 'a place for the sharing of information pertaining to the raw & living foods lifestyle', and under that pretense people joined the tribe, it shouldn't be the job of the moderator to change the tribe, just to keep out trolls and hostile negativity. Of course, those of you who have been here longer and know what you're talking about can disagree with me (and if you do please feel free to!)
respectfully,
Cali

    Myself, or anyone besides Leslie

I will nominate myself only if Cali or M7 declines the nomination. If another regular steps up, I will step down and support them.

I respectfully decline because I know next to nothing about this tribe or the people here, and would be unsuitable for a moderator. However, my support is with Madame7.

I think M7 has the right temperment for the job, so she gets my vote if she's up for it. Like Cali said, it's not a big job. Sentient is my 2nd choice.

I guess it's not a big job if people make more of an effort to learn what "respectfully disagree" means.
I already have two kids, and arranged not to have any more. So I would consider the nomination for moderator as long as:
            1) I don't have to be a mom and ask people to play nice every ten minutes, and
            2) Someone can stop me from eating raw fish

I nominate and vote for m7...
Eventhough she appears to think that eating raw fish disqualifies her, I disagree...(I don't think a moderator has to the second coming of Raw Vegan Christ)
She has the good mom qualities that is needed when the babies get stinky.

Exactly, but let's give her a break and play nice on our own. I don't think anyone but you, M7, can make the decision about what you eat. With time maybe you'll stop eating fish, if it's an addiction I'm sure you're strong enough to overcome it, and if you don't I'm not here to sit in judgment over you.

When I needed help deciding if I was up to quitting fish, I did some research on what fishing, farmed or not, does to the environment, mercury levels and its effects on humans, and the fact that fish do posess the receptors in their brains to feel pain. With a few horrifying issues combined, I now feel no desire whatsoever to eat fish (which I really loved at one point). Hope that helps.

I'll vote for M7 as well, she has the right temperament, and we need to get this shit over with. Don't stress about it M7, it's not like moderating a tribe is hard. Just read all the posts and try not to be a bitch to anyone. :P If you find your interest in tribe waning and you only log in once a month, pass it on to someone else and don't let it go unmoderated.
