i have heard of a lot of hardcore vegans that do not consume any honey, and i understand why. a lot of the time the hives are harmed in the harvesting of this sweet golden nectar. as a vegan, do you personally consume raw honey?

Fri, May 15, 2009 - 10:39 PMBeing a vegan is not always an all or nothing proposition. A person can make some exceptions for reasons of health or personal requirements. One can practice 95% veganism and still reap great benefits from the lifestyle.
Everything in good measure.

Mon, May 18, 2009 - 10:30 PMI am vegan and I eat honey. I also eat vegetables on which I often find many different insects. I bet I've eaten a lot of bugs.

Sun, June 14, 2009 - 7:08 PMOdd that you should bring up this very issue.
As I type my rommie and I are cooking for visiting brothers and sisters (one of whom is vegan). I was a tad surprised when she mentioned that her brother the vegan doesn't eat honey.
I guess it all boils down to an issue of commitment (or extremes) whatever the case may be. To accommodate him she's altering her recipe and sweetening her desert with maple syrup rather than honey.
